The Point Sur is an oceanographic vessel capable of supporting numerous modern research techniques and technologies. It is 42 meters long, 10 meters wide, and can accomodate 12 scientists in addition to its 9 crew members and 5 officers. During class (day) cruises, however, the Point Sur can take up to 39 individuals, plus the crew, officers, and a marine technician.
