Joining the Rustoleum bottom paint experiment

Tonight Thomas, Matt J., & I sanded, taped, & painted the port hull w/Rustoleum pro glossy black. Prep involved a little last-minute filling/fairing w/Devcon Ti HP putty. There were a couple scratches above the ~20cm strip where the truck bed liner had been, and some old dings, including abrasion (from anchor rodes?) on the bow stem.

There was also wear down to the outer glass layer within ~5cm of the plastic lumber keel strip, likely from sand & gravel abrasion in waves when beached bow-first. Ti putty now protects the thinnest spots, but this narrow strip is a candidate for another truck bed liner. The plastic lumber ROCKS and is barely roughed up after season one, plus it looks great painted black! The Rustoleum went on easy w/roll & tip & is nearly tack free only 2 hours later at 17C. A passing walker already commented: “Looks sharp!”

We listened to Missy Huggins & enjoyed Freemont brewery‘s Proletariate porter (as well as Thomas’s PBR.
