Cruising Desolation Sound in a Tiki 21

After pulling Milagra out on the re-decked trailer at the Roche Harbor boat ramp, we sorted gear and disassembled the boat. Getting the hulls (full of gear!) compressed was a challenge, even with 3 adults and a kid collaborating. The crux was getting over the trailer fender.

At one moment we had a real scare when the port hull flipped up and over the inboard 4x9cm board that had been lashed between the upper edges of the V-cradles. Luckily there was no significant damage to the hulls and we got everything trussed up, stored the trailer overnight at the top of the hill, and got a well-earned night’s sleep at Val’s and Leslie’s home.

The next morning we headed into town and Mike, Catherine, Enzo, and Francesca made the International ferry to Sidney with the Tiki in tow behind their VW Golf TDI, heading northward for a first adventure in Desolation Sound!
