Note: Annie found info about Clarence Mackay -- he apparently attended Beaumont College and was 4 years younger than Edmond. Perhaps that's where they met, rather than in France (as Madelaine Reese Anagnostopoulos recalls and was mentioned in obituary for Mackaye)?
Note: Assuming Beaumont was for boys age 7-14 in the late 1800s, then Edmond would have attended somewhere between 1877-1884. The school opened in 1862-63 with 40 boys; by 1871 there were 135. A major event in the history of Beaumont College was the first visit of Queen Victoria on Thursday, March 9, 1882. |

Hi, Annie! Great Grandpa Lynch(Edmond Ambrose Lynch) was born in Dundrum, Dublin County, Ireland on September 28, 1870. His mother's name was Mary Jane Lambert. He sailed from Southhampton, England on June 15, 1892 on the S.S.Paris in a first class cabin and arrived in New York, N. Y. on June 22, 1892. This information comes from his documents to apply for citizenship in the U.S.A and to renounced loyalty to George V King of Great Britian and Ireland. Lots of love! (This was likely Madelaine Low Lynch writing to Annie Reese, but referring to Edmond as the great grandpa of Annie, not herself.) |

Sold Churchtown house in 1933? Apparently inherited this Dublin house... Source is letters with Netherlands Ambeassador in Carol Breckenridge on-line book... |

Note: From: EDMUND LYNCH ned.psa@comcast.net From: EDMUND LYNCH ned.psa@comcast.net Hi, Madie! Sorry to miss you and Dino when we were back east for Katherine and David's 50th. Great to see Skip and the Throops. The handsome and dapper gentleman standing on the right is our grandfather. The man sitting is dad's godfather Clarence Mackey. I never met the two women. The other gentleman I do not recognize, but looks shifty. The last I heard of Churchtown House was about 2-3 years ago. It has been totally remodeled prior to 2005 and last sold for 4 million pounds (or euros). Google earth ( Churchtown House, Weston Park, Churchtown Upper, Dublin 14, Ireland) has good aerial photos and a street view of the front that has not changed as a result of renovation. If you want to get more information on Churchtown House, I suggest the real estate records or local building permits would be a start. It was owned by the Dutch Ambassador in 1980 when we visited. Dad said that at one time (early 1900's) it was rented (owned) by the president of Dublin University. I do not have any documentation on the property. At the time the property was for sale, there was a real estate company out of Dublin that was handling it. When do you plan on leaving? Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
