Outline
Geologic and Geophysical Constraints
on Subsurface Microorganisms
It is my hope that this working paper will serve as a catalyst
for interdisciplinary collaboration -- be it brainstorm or
experiment. I have recited many facts, but am striving to formulate
new questions (at least parenthetically, at this point).
I have benefitted from drawing pictures while meditating
on the diverse papers I have perused, but have only a slightly
more complicated sketch than when
I began. With no further ado, join me in further
inquisitive finger-painting.

Research for this paper has
been geographically biased; I have primarily considered the Endeavor segment
of the Juan de Fuca Ridge. Myriad insights are undoubtedly to be gleaned
from exploration of the diverse geosphere.

What I've proposed to do...
What I've done thus far...
- Introduction to the subsurface biosphere
- Heat flux measurements and
models
- Sesimic velocity
- A integrative stab (with heed to T-P tolerance
of subsurface microorganisms)
